Established in 1990, Thai Archer Restaurant is proud to be the first Thai restaurant in Royal Oak — and one of the very first Thai restaurants in Auckland, New Zealand.

At Thai Archer, our kitchen is led by two remarkable chefs whose talents span the rich culinary landscape of Thailand.

Chef Jo, a native of Thailand’s southern region, brings with him the vibrant and fiery flavors of the South. Known for bold spice, fragrant herbs, and deep, soulful curries, his cooking pays homage to the coastal traditions of his homeland. His dishes are expressive and intense — a reflection of his roots and decades of dedication to authentic Southern Thai cuisine.

Chef Lek, originally from Bangkok, is a nationally recognized chef who has earned multiple awards across Thailand’s culinary scene. Renowned for his precision and refined palate, Chef Lek has mastered the art of balancing flavors — seamlessly blending sweet, sour, salty, and spicy in perfect harmony. His strength lies in interpreting and integrating flavors from across all regions of Thailand, creating dishes that are both sophisticated and widely appealing.

Together, Chef Jo and Chef Lek represent a powerful fusion of regional expertise and national mastery. Their collaboration brings depth, contrast, and unity to every plate — combining the intensity of the South with the elegant versatility of Bangkok’s central culinary philosophy.
